Cellular / Honeycomb Shades in Toronto & the GTA

Cellular shades, also called honeycomb shades, are made of pleated fabric formed into air-trapping cells. That structure insulates the window, so they are the most energy-efficient shade for Canadian winters and hot summers. Options include light-filtering and blackout fabrics, top-down/bottom-up operation and cordless or motorized lift.

Best for:
  • Older drafty windows
  • Bedrooms & nurseries
  • Basements
  • Top-down privacy on street-facing rooms

Why choose cellular / honeycomb shades

Insulating cells

Pockets of air help keep heat in during winter and out in summer.

Top-down / bottom-up

Lower from the top for light and sky while keeping the bottom private.

Day / night

Two fabrics in one shade — light-filtering above, blackout below.

Compact stack

Folds up very small so you keep more of your view.

Cellular / Honeycomb Shades — questions

Do cellular shades really save energy?

They insulate better than most other window coverings because of their air pockets. Actual savings depend on your windows, home and habits, so we don't promise a percentage.

What does top-down/bottom-up mean?

The shade can be lowered from the top and raised from the bottom, so you can let light in through the top of the window while keeping privacy below.

How do I clean honeycomb shades?

Dust lightly and use a hair dryer on the cool setting to blow out the cells.
